Eva Batt about her composition
“The poem preceded is about two loving people who were separated in earthly life. One has preceded, the other remains here on Earth. Far from each other – and yet united in their love.
It seemed appropriate for the musical translation to write a duet for violin and double bass. I wanted to explore sounds and timbres that result from the distance of their pitches, but also from their overlapping. In my opinion, violin and double bass can express the pain, hope and consolation of this lost love, which is still alive in the heart, in a particularly haunting way.”

History of origins

In recent years, the works of the author Christiane Schwarze and the composer Eva Batt have been honoured among other in the form of international artist scholarships.
Their project The Silence of the Shadows – Mosaic of a Search was also supported and led to working stays in France, Sweden and Switzerland.
The aim of the two artists was to give a voice to people on whom a shadow lies (emotionally/socially) – with the means of their art.
